Metallic space-age designs are defining the fashion movement for the year 2011, from the rich and colorful to natural cosmetics. For the more futuristic inspirations, styles are coming from many different style trends of the 1970s and 1980s.

The Fashionistas are forecasting all the ultra modern colors of the 1980s. “Jewel tones” are making a big come back this year. The color movement leaders are teal, violet, cobalt-blue, and magenta to lime green and they’re working their way to center stage on the runways and on the streets. Black, as well as white, still remains in vogue along with many textures which are slick to sheer fabrics and where pretty is definitely in.

Something that has been a major focus in fashion for the last two years are shoes. Beautiful shoes are really the focal point of any wardrobe. What’s all the rage? Roman looking lace-up Gladiator sandals and Italian pointed Stiletto looking boots with those “Hills to the sky” effect.

Men are also becoming more style conscious this year when dressing up or dressing down. They want to be the trend setters again with an interest in cutting edge styles and a more put-together-look of elegance of the future. Men are definitely getting into the act of being fashion forward.

Fashion’s Night Out (FNO), where well known celebrities and fashion designers come together every September to celebrate fashion, restore consumer confidence, boost the industry’s economy and put the fun back in shopping. FNO has become a national popular past time, not to mention a Fashinista’s dream come true! It takes place one night during the beginning of fashion week and just before the 9/11 Memorials. It all began with the first Fashion’s Night Out in New York City, 2009. FNO gives 30% of all proceeds from retail sales to the September 11th Memorial Fund to help rebuild New York City.

The temperature of fashion today is ULTRA HOT! Our world, the avant-garde and future fashion, is back again. So go on out there and express yourself… go, represent!
