Future Cars, Technologically Advanced Automobiles

Posted by Mark G. Picascio Categories: Industrial Design Tags: Futuristic, Industrial Design

Super cars, super highways. What the future would hold for us in transportation and what we thought was to be our future cars, is realized now in the year 2011. Now, more than ever, the evolution of the automobile has come of age, and not just for futuristic dreams, but for real!

Remember way back in grade school when, you know, all us shy kids, would hibernate in the library at lunch time selecting books on the future and let our mind melt into a dream for awhile. We were so young and impressionable at the time, looking at what the world was to be, oh, say in twenty years or so! Well, it was true, at least for us futurist, geeky kids. Those photos are still cool today.

Some of the best photos of the futuristic concept cars came from GM in 1964, when General Motors revisited the future with Futurama II at the New York World’s Fair. The first Futurama was a ride at the 1939 New York World’s fair. The updated 1964 Futurama II offered it’s riders a glimpse into what life in the year 2024 would be like. It was to be a “Millennium of Progress” to celebrate the boundless potential of science and technology for human advancement. It was a time in America’s history when it was at the very crest of its post war (World war II) technological and economic prowess. This time around, the world had plenty of modernist architecture and multi-lane highways, so GM decided to make a Futurama for the Space Age and show all the Space Age technology and dreams of the future and its transportation, including the cars of the future.

Seems like years have gone by since all those concept car photos of long ago, and finally, here in the year 2011, we have some automotive vehicles that are to be produced that really having some true pizzazz!

Concept cars to reality cars, they have finally emerged into our lives for real, right off the drawing boards and on to the streets! Thanks to technology advances and the great visionary designers in our world, we now have those super cars of the future today, along with all the latest advancements that makes them so much safer than those old future concepts from years ago.

Now take a good look at what is new, because the future cars are here!

Electric Highways with Automatic Cars

Electricity may be the driver. One day your car may speed along an electric highway. Its speed and steering automatically controlled by electronic devices embedded in the road. Highways will be made safe — by electricity! No traffic jams, no collisions, no driver fatigue.
