Forget the mundane. Abstract modern art is here to invigorate and challenge your practical mind and emotions with color, form and proportion that will knock your socks off!
When going on your first hunt for art, ask interior designers or architects who you feel represent your own personal style and taste, where you can find the art you want. These professionals can direct you to artists in galleries that you may have not thought of before. Many galleries these days are also willing to strike a deal on the retail pricing of their art. So when you find the piece of art that you have fallen in love with and must absolutely have, be sure, no matter what, put on your best “poker face”, and for God’s sake, stop staring at that piece of art for just a half a minute to make the deal!
Sometimes, like a piece of furniture or designer fashion wear, you might take some time to look around and then continue your stalking of the art that you keep going back to and want to buy for your home or office. However, keep in mind that unlike furniture or fashion design wear, original art is one one of a kind and that is what makes it so compelling. Of course, if someone else buys it while you are weighing your options…disaster could happen. You might see someone else walking out of the gallery with your piece of art! You know in your heart of hearts, if this would occur, great remorse and disappointment would set in knowing that another one does not exist in the world.
Original art can be a rather large purchase, so when you finally break free of your wallet and take the plunge, keep in mind that you have an option to try it out first! What is common knowledge between interior designers and architects, but little know to others is that a client can take an original art piece from the gallery on consignment or loan for a couple of days to decide which piece will work best for their interiors. If you are working with an interior designer or architect, in most cases, they can handle the delivery and pick up transactions.
Art is very subjective. You can’t say what will flip the switch on for any one person at any one time when buying art. How people will react emotionally and intellectually over any one piece of art, is any one’s guess.
